Biography

Doug Stark is a philosopher, game designer, and educator who studies how art, play, and practices of self-formation coevolve with technology. He is Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Synthetic Humanities Lab at the University of Texas at Arlington. Doug received his Ph.D. with certificates in Film Studies and Digital Humanities from the English and Comparative Literature Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he helped establish the Critical Game Studies Program. Before entering academia, Doug was a track and field athlete and coach who represented England in the decathlon.
